Like any new system, you will need to invest some time in learning how the new system works. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 utilises Microsoft’s familiar ribbon interface, which makes this learning curve much easier. If you know how to use Microsoft Office, you’re already most of the way there.

1. Install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Outlook client (latest links are always on our Microsoft Dynamics CRM Resources page). This enables you to use your Dynamics CRM trial system right within Outlook, including the ability to track emails and synchronise your data.
2. Import some of your existing data (accounts and contacts, for instance) to help make the trial system more relevant for your business.
3. Watch the introductory Dynamics CRM Training videos.
4. Involve your colleagues! Having people across multiple areas of your business trialling the areas of the system relevant to them will provide a better experience than trying to understand everything single-handedly. The new Office 365 product offering, due to launch in 2011, combines Microsoft Exchange Online, Sharepoint, Live Meeting and Lync (formerly Office Communicator) with Office web apps and licensing for the familiar Microsoft Office Desktop software.

Microsoft Office 365 public beta space is limited, however customers wanting to get up and running as soon as possible with Microsoft Online Services can sign up to Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) right away. Once Office 365 launches, BPOS customers will be able to transition across to Office 365.

Building on the success of CRM 4.0, the next-generation version promises “The Power of Productivity” and delivers superior levels of flexibility and user personalisation.

The CRM 2011 client builds on the familiar Microsoft Outlook interface, utilising the contextual ribbon to both simplify and enrich the user experience whilst supporting deeper integration with other Office applications such as Word and Excel. Out-of-the box data visualisation functionality, customisable dashboards, goal management and interactive process dialogues are just some of the other game-changing features included as standard in this latest version.  Microsoft will be offering the Microsoft Dynamics Marketplace for the first time, allowing customers to connect directly with Microsoft partners to purchase applications and professional services add-ons for CRM for immediate download.

The CRM Business is proud to be participating in the beta, and looking forward to being able to offer CRM 2011 to more of our customers in the very near future.  We are currently putting the on-premise product through its paces ourselves, and also have customers actively participating in the UK CRM Online beta programme.  So far, customer feedback has been phenomenal – those who have seen the new version to date are particularly impressed by the data visualisation tools and improved user interface and are keen to take advantage of the additional functionality as soon as possible.

There are currently over 1.4 million Microsoft Dynamics CRM users worldwide.  With the introduction of CRM 2011, Microsoft hopes to be able to reach 40 markets in 41 languages with CRM 2011 by the end of this year.
